Board of Director Dawnett Warburton

Dawnett Warburton is a native of Jamaica. Growing up in rural Maroon Town, St. James she came from humble beginnings which comprised some of her fondest childhood memories. She immigrated to the United States as an adolescent in the 1980s where she resides in the Bronx, New York.

Dawnett Warburton is a certified teacher and dedicated almost two decades working in the public school system in urban school districts facilitating education in the areas of special education and health. She interacts with students and parents of diverse cultural, linguistic, and economic backgrounds. In this role, Dawnett demonstrates a strong commitment to collaborative leadership practices which involves staff, students, and parents in the decision making process. Dawnett is adaptable to various work environments, new concepts, and responsibilities. She is uniquely organized, self-motivated, has the ability to set effective priorities to achieve immediate and long term goals, and meet deadlines while working independently as well as collaboratively.

Furthermore, facilitate Pupil Placement Team meetings and develop and implement students’ Individual Educational Plan as well as the role of a case manager. Hence, supervise and collaborate with paraprofessionals to devise special strategies to reinforcing lessons or skills. Dawnett is also appointed as an officer for Garth Charity Projects (GCP). She is the Executive Board of Director for Garth Charity Projects, Inc. In this role, she manages society affairs, humanitarian needs programs and projects, documents, events, ambassadors, and donations. Hence, advocate for the nonprofit Garth Charity Projects, Inc. and the Branch.

Dawnett Warburton holds a Connecticut Administrator Certification in Intermediate Administration & Supervision through the University of Bridgeport, Master (M.S.) in General/Special Education from Touro College, Master (M.S.) in Health Services Administration from Iona College, Bachelor (B.S.) in Health Services Administration from Herbert H. Lehman College, and an Associate (A.A.S.) in Community School/Health education from Bronx Community College. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Educational Leadership, at the University of Bridgeport. Dawnett is also a licensed notary and certified in real estate.

Dawnett Warburton is the proud mother of her two brilliant sons, Akin and Jelani by far her most remarkable achievement.

She currently resides in the state of Connecticut where she continued to work as an educator and nurture her family. After almost two decades as an educator Dawnett continues to love what she does on a daily basis and the role she plays in the lives of her students. She also aspires to open a school where she would provide early academic intervention to students with and without special needs. She relishes learning new strategies and collaborating with colleagues. As a lifelong learner Dawnett continues to seek ways to reach the community through humanitarianism around the world. In addition, Dawnett is a member of Calvary New Testament Church of God. She delights worshiping in the house of the Lord. Life is precious, and we should not only enjoy it but help others to enjoy it, after all, there is only one life to live.
